Ferrari F12 Berlinetta

The name Ferrari will never lose its sense of speed, endurance, power and style. Running out of road for Ferrari cars is not even an issue as they unveil their new F12 Berlinetta at this year’s Geneva International Motor Show. Since sitting and waiting for the Geneva International Motor Show pictures, the internet, as always, get’s the first pics which are jaw dropping. What stuns the car enthusiasts is its 12-cylinder engine.

It is Ferrari’s ultimate road car with high performance and an incredible engine (so far, right?). Everything in it combines together to give perfect combustion and mechanical efficiency and guaranties smooth driving.

The bodyshell and spaceframe chassis are build from 12 kinds of alloys, some of them are being used for the first time. The premiere of the new alloys comes along with the premier of new joining and assembly techniques. This resulted in weight reduction which is around 70 kilograms less than the V12 coupe.

6262cc 65° V12 engine is capable of delivering high performance suitable for a natural 12-cylinder. The power output maximizes to 740 CV giving torque of 69 Nm in which 80 percent are reachable in 2.500 pm. There is a Formula 1 spirit in this car as it is mated to a dual-clutch transmission which gives closer gear ratios.

350 g/km are the CO2 emissions that place the Ferrari F12berlinetta first among its high-performance colleagues.

Much work has been done in the aerodynamic style of the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta. It seems that the Ferrari factory has put a lot of hours in the wind tunnel before creating high aerodynamic design. However, the wind tunnel is not the only assistant, Computational Fluid Dynamic (CDF) simulations also had their mark in this car. The CDF simulations and wind tunnel helped in downforce increase with 76 per cent (the car is 123 kilograms while driving at 200 km/h) and reduced drag (Cd 0.299).But these achievements had help from two new solutions, the Aero Bridge and the Active Brake Cooling system.

The Aero Bridge generates downforce doesn’t allow the air to go up, but to the sides; there it interacts with the wheel wells thus reducing drag. Guide vanes are opened by the Active Braking system to cool down the brake ducts at high temperatures.

The Technical specifications of the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta go on with the magnetorheological suspension control system (SCM-E) and carbon-ceramic brakes (CCM3). Full integrated, by tradition in Ferrari cars are ESP Premium, E-Diff, high-performance ABS and F1 Trac.

This result of Ferrari Styling Center and Pinifarina collaboration reaches 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.1 second, and in 8.5 seconds it’s capable of reaching 200 km/h. Compared with other Ferrari cars that were tested on the Fiorano circuit, the Ferrari F12berlinetta is the fastest of them all with 1 minute and 23 seconds.
